Thanks so much to Heather Ivy, of beautybyheatherivy.com, for Kim’s wonderful makeup. And other vendors: bring your cards! I’d love to send you images that you can use to promote your fabulous work, but you gotta help me out!

Shawn gets to come out and play now…a couple from their first look, and then the ketuba ceremony. I really loved the cantor who did their wedding. Affable, joyous, welcoming, inclusive, good with the kids. A quality officiant who truly shares the joy of the occasion makes such a great difference in a wedding. A great officiant conveys the idea that this is an emotional bond, not a legal one.
More wishes for happiness to Shawn and Kim!
After a rainy week, the skies dried up and gave us a bit of sunshine for Kim and Shawn’s center city Philadelphia wedding. A little bit of bridal prep at the hotel, a first look down in South Philly, portraits here and there around town, and back to the hotel for an elegant reception.
I am always so thankful when families are involved, gracious, and easy to work with. Kim and Shawn’s wedding was an excellent example of this…it moves the day right along, keep everyone calm, and most importantly, people look as if they are having a pleasant time in the photographs.
Here are a few from the day; more will follow!
And for something more or less completely different. I can say with some certainty that this is my first album cover. Back in the spring, I had the chance to photograph a session with Powerloader, a band consisting of my friend Dan Consiglio, and Patrick Richardson, who played with Dan in Wormrider. You get extra points if you see the sci-fi theme going on here.
It’s always great when you can photograph a band and totally dig their music, too; it helps you understand what the right photograph to take is. (I got to photograph one of my favorite local bands, the Levee Drivers…at a wedding, no less. They are a very different band, but you should get your hands on their music, too.). It’s also great when you have a friend with whom you can be completely honest when you say their music is compelling. Warning: this is not what I would call “pop” music.
Check it out, and download the music here. Thank me next time we meet up while wearing alien-fighting robotic forklift suits.
New wedding images coming up!
Until then, cheers!
