      Thanks so much! For me, the expression comes kind of naturally…it’s actually having something worth saying that I wrestle with. I’m better at responding than creating, I think.

    Very interesting reading, I totally agree with you! It’s an incredibly rewarding process, if you give yourself the needed time for reflection.

      The reflection is so important, quality-wise, for me. I was working on a series of 4×5 landscapes this spring, and the first 25 or 30 or so images just weren’t compelling, because I didn’t really have an idea of why I was shooting them, beyond the prettiness of it. As I worked and mulled it over, I came to a better understanding of the idea I was looking for behind the landscapes, and the quality of the imagery improved, as a result of having the time to reflect on why I was shooting the series. Bummer it comes at the cost of 30 lame 4×5 negatives…there are times when digital seems so appealing….
